Demi Characters
Cindy deMasi (Demi Character) is in her 23rd season with BAHBT. Performance credits include The Nutcracker, Dracula, Edward Scissorhands, Sleeping Beauty, Coppélia, and Cinderella. She has volunteered in many areas of BAHBT and is currently a member of the Board of Directors. Cindy is thankful to be part of such an incredible organization and grateful for the Artistic staff and fellow board members.
Mike deMasi (Demi Character) is in his 15th season with BAHBT performing in The Nutcracker, Edward Scissorhands, and Coppélia. Mike enjoys building props and assisting behind the scenes. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors. The best part of his volunteer work is emceeing the annual Sugar Plum Fairy Breakfast, the only time Mother Ginger or the Rat King get to talk.
Stacie Bynum-Heath (Demi Character) performed in The Nutcracker as a child and young adult and has now returned to perform with her two children, Colton and Hannah Heath. In total, this will be her 22nd year in The Nutcracker. Stacie earned her doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Houston in 2002.
Pam Culpepper-Cronk (Demi Character) for 35 years Pam Culpepper Cronk, of J. Pamela Photography, served and photographed the Bay Area Houston community and beyond. In the early 90’s Lynette Mason Gregg invited her to photograph the dancers, a relationship lasting decades. With her art background, Pam was involved in designing and photographing many of the season brochures, ads, and event programs. Her involvement with BAHBT extended to more than a decade of board membership, including a two-year term as President. Since retirement, she is thrilled to join BAHBT as a three-year cast member of The Nutcracker. Quite simply, being part of the performance is a highlight in her life. She salutes BAHBT volunteers and staff, for their inspiring leadership and ongoing dedication to the dancers while commemorating the Company’s 50th year.
Darrick McCally (Demi Character) is excited and deeply grateful to perform in The Nutcracker since 2006. His extensive stage experience includes notable roles such as Monseur Baurel in An American in Paris, FDR in Annie, Grandpa George in Willy Wonka, Adult Eugene in Grease, Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors, Hickory and Zeke in The Wizard of Oz. He has also appeared in productions of Hairspray, Scissorhands, Bye Bye Birdie, and Seussical. In ballet, Darrick has embraced various non-dance roles, including appearances in Swan Lake, Cinderella, and The Nutcracker as the Uncle, Ginger Legs, and the Rat King – known for countless dramatic death scenes.
Jana Miller (Demi Character) is delighted to be celebrating her 6th season with BAHBT’s production of The Nutcracker. Sharing the stage with her husband and granddaughters, Camilla and Claira, has made the production a treasured family tradition each Christmas. In addition to performing, Jana proudly serves on the BAHBT’s Board of Directors and deeply values the organization's positive impact on the community.
Richard Miller (Demi Character) is enjoying his third season performing in The Nutcracker alongside his wife and granddaughters. While it may come as a surprise, he has no formal training and is relatively new to the stage—making his involvement all the more memorable! When he’s not performing, Richard enjoys supporting BAHBT from the audience and is proud to serve as a corporate sponsor.
Lauren Peplinski (Demi Character) COTA is thrilled to return as a BAHBT Demi Character. She made her first BAHBT appearance in 2002 as a Rat in The Nutcracker. Some of her more recent BAHBT roles include Olga in An American in Paris, Miss TeaVee in Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka, and Maid, Nanny, and Mother Ginger in The Nutcracker. Lauren would like to thank her family and the BAHBT family for their continued support.
Russell Rhoades (Demi Character) is in his 7th year with BAHBT and has enjoyed performing in The Nutcracker as a Party Dad. He is an elementary teacher with 21 years of classroom experience. Russell has always enjoyed performing and acting since high school with additional interest in camping and hiking. He is a proud father of two daughters, Olivia and Piper Rhoades.
Cassandra Shaffer-Permenter (Demi Character) received her early training from Pennsylvania Youth Theater and has performed professionally with PA Dance Vision, FrenetiCore, and Sandra Organ Dance Company among others. In addition, she has been teaching dance for over 20 years and has choreographed a number of youth musicals. She has performed in BAHBT's The Nutcracker since 2018, and is a member of the Grande Jetes at The Jet- Pac. She lives with her husband in Texas City.
Tiffany Shaw (Demi Character) is honored to be in her 9th season with BAHBT, having taken the stage in The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Dracula, and Giselle. A proud graduate of the University of Houston-Clear Lake with degrees in Psychology, she treasures performing alongside her husband, Wesley, and daughter, Sophia. She is deeply grateful to Miss Natalie, without whom this honor would not be possible.
Wesley Shaw (Demi Character) first performed in BAHBT’s The Nutcracker at the age of 13, beginning a tradition that has become a meaningful part of his family’s life. Over the years, he has continued to share his love for the stage, performing in productions of Dracula, Cinderella, Giselle, and La Bayadere. Today, the tradition lives on through his wife, Tiffany Shaw, and their daughters, Olivia and Sophia, who have also taken the stage in recent seasons, making The Nutcracker a cherished family experience year after year.
Jennifer Stillman (Demi Character) has performed with BAHBT since 2014. She has performed in the Nutcracker, Cinderella, Swan Lake, and Dracula. Jennifer is a Texas A&M graduate and is currently a CPA with DRDA, LLC. She enjoys reading and taking adult ballet lessons. Jennifer is thankful to be part of the BAHBT family with her husband Scott.
Scott Stillman (Demi Character) has performed with BAHBT since 2014. He has performed in the Nutcracker, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Cinderella, Swan Lake, Dracula, Coppélia, and Don Quijote. Scott Stillman is a Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Life Underwriter with 25+ years helping you fight off the pirates and weather the storms in your financial life. Scott enjoys sailing, geocaching, reading, solar carving, and travel. Scott is thankful to be part of the BAHBT family with his wife Jennifer
Julie Trumble (Demi Character) has been performing with BAHBT since 2012. Performance credits include The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Dracula, and Swan Lake. She most recently appeared in Our Town (Mrs. Webb) directed by Kevin Cahoon and in Rock of Ages (ensemble) directed by Travis Coombs. As a child, she danced in The Nutcracker with the Dallas Ballet (Rat, Party Girl), and she performed in numerous productions at Alvin Community College (1983-1990). She graduated from UT Austin (BA ’92, MLIS ’94) and is a medical librarian at UTMB. She thanks her family for their love and support.
