Bay Area Houston Ballet & Theatre is excited to continue holding OPEN Company Auditions for dancers  (ages 13 and up) in the greater Houston area. We are committed to providing exciting and professional performance opportunities for our company members throughout the season. As a 501(c)3, these opportunities are available to them at no cost.

AUDITION INFORMATION

​

When: Saturday, May 18, 2024

Who: New and returning dancers (age 13 and up)  

Register via the Online Application Form by noon on Thursday, May 16.

Audition: 1:00 - 2:30 PM

Location: 2350-Suite D Dickinson Avenue Dickinson, Texas 77539 (The Lynette Mason Gregg Black Box)

Audition Dress code:

Ladies: standard pink tights and black leotard

Gentleman: standard black tights and white dance shirt

​

What to expect: Audition will consist of a ballet and contemporary portion. Dancers trained en pointe should also come prepared for some pointe work.

UNABLE TO ATTEND THE AUDITION?

RETURNING COMPANY MEMBERS

Should you, for whatever reason, be unable to attend the May 18 Open Audition, please submit a LETTER OF PETITION to be considered for renewed company membership. Fill out the Online Application Form and a petition letter should be emailed to: natalie@bahbt.org no later than noon on Thursday, May 16. NO video, headshot, and résumé submissions necessary.

 

NEW APPLICANTS

• Fill out the Online Application Form by noon on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

• Submit a video audition, headshot, and résumé with the Online Application Form

  • Applicants should have a strong dance background with an emphasis in classical ballet.

  • Applicant must be 13 years of age or older (by September 2024.) Should a dancer not be 13 by September 2024, you may submit a letter of petition for consideration. Send petition to natalie@bahbt.org.

VIDEO AUDITION GUIDELINES

​

• Applicants should wear appropriate audition attire:

  • Ladies: pink tights and black leotard

  • Gentleman: black tights and white dance shirt

• Video should be no longer than 5 minutes in duration and should include:

  • Abbreviated Barre (plié, tendu, adagio, grand battement) to one side each

  • Abbreviated Center (1-2 combinations that feature your best qualities and strengths)

  • Pointe work may also be demonstrated, in the center, if applicant has experience

  • Footage should be current and recorded no earlier than six months of submission

  • Video Audition should be in a readable format (ex: mp4 or .wmv)

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

​

All applicants who attend the open audition or submit a letter of petition or video audition will receive correspondence by May 17, 2024 via to the email address you put on your application form.

​

For those accepted, we will hold a Company Meeting on May 19, 2024 at 2:30 PM in The Lynette Mason Gregg Black Box. You will receive all pertinent information regarding important rehearsal and performance dates, rules, and expectations. It’s also a great opportunity for you to ask questions. You will be given time to review all information before completing a letter of commitment.
