Smart Girls Rock!
A Celebration of Arts, Science & Technology
Friday, February 22, 2013, Space Center Houston
As part of its 2012-2013 Season, Synchronicity: A Celebration of Arts, Science, and Technology, BAHBT is demonstrating that SMART GIRLS ROCK! This rocking program, designed to reach approximately 250 middle school girls across diverse academic and socioeconomic backgrounds throughout the Houston and Galveston area, uses dance to get their attention while encouraging interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Expert panel discussions, hands-on activities, and a fashion show employing scientific principles such as angular momentum are included.

Jeté Award Dinner
February 23, 2013, 8:30pmSpace Center Houston, Astronaut Gallery, Houston, Texas
Join as at Space Center Houston following the Saturday night performance of Celestial Mechanics as we honor the professional achievements of two former BAHBT company members.
Miral Kotb, a graduate of Columbia University, is both an inventor and a choreographer. In 2009, she founded iLuminate (www.iLuminate.com), a company based on the technology she created–where performers dance in the dark wearing costumes that illuminate wirelessly to complement the music and choreography. The iLuminate dance team placed third in last season's America’s Got Talent, and has opened two new shows in the Six Flags theme parks.
Jessica (Lackey) Lu, also a former dancer with BAHBT, is currently a National Science Foundation Astrophysicist and Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Hawaii, researching black holes and the formation of stars at the galactic center.
